About CMD CNTR

Built to a standard you can inspect

CMD CNTR is a senior engineering practice. Fifteen-plus years shipping websites, custom applications, and AI integrations for billion-dollar companies and bootstrapped startups alike, held to the same tested, staging-first standard either way.

How the work is held

The engineering standard

Anyone can say they build things properly. These are the specific things we do on every project, including this website, and each one leaves evidence you can ask to see.

Tested before it ships, not after

New server routes, utilities and stores land with the tests that cover them, or the build fails. Our own platform runs more than five thousand automated tests against a 95% coverage gate, enforced in CI and again before any code leaves a laptop.

Database changes rehearsed on a clone first

Every schema migration is versioned, reviewed as SQL, and run against a throwaway clone of the real database before it is allowed near production. Destructive changes ship in two passes so the app is never mid-way between two shapes.

Staging first, always

You see and test the work on a real staging environment before it is live. Nothing is promoted to production that has not already run somewhere you could click on it, and a release is a deliberate step rather than a side effect of merging.

Accessibility checked, not assumed

Contrast, keyboard paths, focus order and screen-reader naming are part of the build rather than a retrofit. We run the same WCAG checks on our own site that we run on yours, and we publish the tooling for it.

Performance treated as a feature

Images are budgeted and converted, pages are cached deliberately, and regressions are measured rather than guessed at. When we cut our blog imagery from 19 MB to under 1 MB, it was because someone was watching the number.

You can read what we did

Work is explained in plain language: what changed, why, and what to verify. No black box, no handoff to a junior team you never met, and no report that hides the parts that did not go to plan.

How we work

A process built around no surprises

From the first call to launch day, you always know where things stand.

  1. 1

    Scope & estimate

We start with clear scoping and honest time estimates, so you know the cost and timeline up front.

  2. 2

    Build in staging

You watch it come together with consistent updates, screenshots, and live demos. No black box.

  3. 3

    Review & approve

You test every change yourself in staging. Nothing goes live until you sign off on it.

  4. 4

    Launch & support

We launch, then stay on for fixes, updates, and long-term maintenance well after go-live.

Where we work

Based in Northwest Indiana, working remotely everywhere else

Most of our work is remote and always has been, for clients across the country and overseas. We are based in the Region, though, and we take local work seriously: if you are nearby, see web design and SEO across Northwest Indiana, or the Valparaiso page for the town we know best. Same standard either way. Being down the road just means we can meet in person when it helps.

Frequently asked questions

What does CMD CNTR do?

We design and build websites, e-commerce stores, and custom web applications, add AI agents and automations to the tools you already use, and stick around for ongoing support. The same senior engineers handle the first build and the long-term maintenance, so nothing is inherited by someone who was not there when it was written.

How quickly will I hear back?

Most requests get a reply within the same business day. We aim to ship small changes inside 24 to 48 hours, and larger features get scoped first so you see the plan before any timer starts.

How does pricing work?

We sell annual and monthly support packages, and you can also purchase support by the hour if you would rather pay as you go. There are two kinds of hours so your plan matches the help you actually need: development hours for building new features on your site or application, and content hours for minor changes like adding or modifying text and images. Exact pricing depends on what you need, which is a quick call.

What does working together actually look like?

Every project starts with clear scoping and honest estimates. You watch the work come together in staging with regular updates and live demos, test it yourself, and nothing goes live until you approve it. No surprises.

Can you add AI to my business?

Yes. Custom agents, workflow automations, knowledge-base chatbots, and AI audits that plug into the tools you already use. If you are not sure where AI fits, we will help you find the highest-impact place to start.

Let's build something that lasts

Whether it is a new site, a custom app, or an AI integration, tell us what you are trying to do and we will point you the right way.
